Spooky Season, but make it Sci-Fi!

We’ve kicked off October by releasing our newest title, which features creepy cyber-beings called epigones— digital ghosts that can cross into the physical plane.

The book is "24 Views of Mt. Fuji, by Hokusai", Roger Zelazny’s brilliant Hugo Award winning and Nebula nominated novella. If you know me, then you know that Roger Zelazny is my favorite writer so I really enjoyed working on this book.

The story follows Mari, a terminally ill woman who is on a pilgrimage through Japan. To focus her pilgrimage Mari is using a copy of the original "24 Views of Mt. Fuji" by ukiyo-e artist Hokusai, given to her by her late husband Kit. She visits each of the stations that Hokusai’s woodblock prints depict. It's slowly revealed that Kit's body died as a result of uploading his consciousness to the world wide web; his cyber-ghost would like her to follow him there, but Mari won't simply stand by and let Kit strip her of her humanity. Her journey is both mystical and practical as she moves to confront Kit.

"24 Views of Mt. Fuji, by Hokusai" is Zelazny at his finest. His writing is confident and powerful with scores of literary allusions. And if that doesn’t sound exciting enough there are militant monks, secret agents, and those epigone monsters all seemingly trying to prevent Mari from accomplishing her goal! Plus I’ve included 24 full-color renderings of Hokusai’s Edo era woodcuts at the beginning of each corresponding chapter to provide some texture to the story. Some of you may recognize his masterpiece The Great Wave of Kanagawa within these pages... but where? That's yet another mystery of "24 Views" you must read to find out!

Until next time, stay spooky and have a Positronic day!
